(please see the actual dates below for each course)

Upper Limbs

It will cover Fingers, Hands, Wrists, Arms, Shoulder Girdle, Sternum & Ribs.

Most importantly embodying the pathways which connect those parts.  Those specific pathways then allow you to become a more efficient, graceful and powerful mover and help prevent injuries and/or heal existing ones.

We will look at this from developmental aspects to understand and embody, so it will provide long lasting changes.  And it will be fun.

Great for practicing teaching & practicing yoga, dance, sports, workout or any daily movements.

Dates: Aug 5, 12, 19, 26, Sep 16, 30

Time: 15:30-17:30 UK time - please check your time zone!

Cost of your investment for each course is £150 (£25/session)*  Full fee

*Concession rate available upon request. Please write to me.

Registration & Booking: Please follow this link and select and book on the correct course.

The recording of each week will be sent to you.

So if you miss a session, you will be able to watch it in your own time or review the materials again and again.  Or if your time zone is not suitable for the session time, then you can purchase the course as a series of recordings.

It is suitable for yoga teachers, teachers trainees, any movement practitioners, body-work therapists, dancers, all keen movement practitioners.

It will involve studying of the anatomy (handouts will be sent to you via email), use of touch (we practice on our own body), and other means (somatisation, visualisation, movement explorations and dialogues & discussions) to help you understand and get to know your own body better through direct experiences of the tissues and its functions.

I will also introduce some developmental movement to help you understand your hands, arms and shoulders & ribs in the larger context of life.  This will offer you deeper understanding on why and how our bodies function the way they do and offer you an insight about some habits and tendencies which might be causing you injuries and lack of ease of movements.

The group for these courses are small and cozy in order to create a safer and intimate setting and I will be able to offer more attention to each participant’s needs and support their experiences.

Overall, it will truly help you become a more conscious, mindful and powerful mover and if you are a therapist, it will support you as an embodied therapist in your clinic.

Lower Limbs

It will cover Toes, Feet, Ankles, Legs - including knees, Hips, Pelvis.

Great for teaching or practicing yoga, dance, sports, workout or any daily movements.

About Aki:

I am an experienced somatic movement therapist/educator, and a yoga teacher with almost 20 years experience. I am also a certified Body-Mind Centering® teacher.

Currently, I am a faculty member of several yoga teachers trainings, including an advanced teachers training at Triyoga UK, teaching anatomy and somatic movement based on the early developmental movements.

I am also an early trauma therapist (NARM = Neuro-Affective Relational Model approach).

I run an annual 8 dat residential training for yoga teachers, holistic therapists and psychotherapists in Surrey, UK. It covers a larger topic of enquiry into a wellness of whole person, enabling each person to find own unique ways to connect and express their full potential in their lives. The training is consists of embodied anatomy of the nervous system as a main pillar, but including other body systems as well as developmental movements, embryology and the use touch in the means to bring healing through tissues, regulation of the nervous system and enhancing the awareness and movement capacity of clients/receiver.

Together with Jane Okondo, we are starting the educational organisation called Soma Trauma Education, employing somatic movement approach to healing of the trauma.

The foundation course for this training will begin in December 2020.

Here are some of feedback from the past participants:
"I attended this a few years ago and still use the incredible content of the course to inform my teaching and practice" Sarah - Cranial-sacral Therapist
"I spent a nurturing and nourishing week with Aki at Kilnhanger. Aki's passion for somatic inquiry both in movement and stillness was delivered beautifully.  There is a depth, truth and richness to her teaching that emanates from her own embodiment of these practices.  She brought together a talented and compassionate group and we were supported by beautiful surroundings and an amazing chef. I returned home a little bit different and continue to employ much of what I learnt in my practice and with my students."
Dora - Yoga teacher
"Aki's passion for this subject is infectious and I found it a deeply affecting experience. I am still integrating it.  The training revealed where I was in my embodiment process and where my work is - not necessarily a comfortable process but profoundly necessary - particularly as a teacher and facilitator.  Beautiful place, delicious food and fun dancing added much nourishment!"
Tamsin - Psychotherapist, Trainer and facilitator

A weekend Yoga and Somatic workshop with Aki Omori and Jean Hall at Triyoga London
"Opening the Window of Resilience"
- Repatterning, reconnecting, rebalancing through movement + body awareness.

Through breath and movement exploration, discussion and sharing, this daylong workshop will enquire into the relationships between the health of the mind and the body from the perspectives of the brain, nervous system and developmental movements.

Learning about the primal functions of the brain and the nervous system, and how our individual history contributes to our unique tendencies, we can then apply this understanding to our experiences and awareness of movement. By taking time to slow down so we can recognise and sense into the fine texture of sensation and motion to help reconnect us to our intuition and inner knowing, we become more able to re-pattern, repair and re-balance ourselves in life’s on-going process of self learning and realisation.

Embodied Relational Presence / Touch / Tissue Reading / Seeing the whole person
We will explore ‘embodied relational presence’ which is fundamental to any therapeutic relationship or in fact any relationships.
We will also explore different types of touch that support clients/students’ own healing process, including a conscious choice of ‘not-touching’.
Investigate different types of body tissues and their tones which can inform us of the state the person is in. We will go beyond ‘body reading’ and look at ‘tissue reading’ in order to meet the whole person.

Restorative Yoga, Mindfulness, Meditation and Pranayama/Breath work
As tools to take care of ourselves, these will be also included.

Enquiry into Psycho-physical aspects / our identity / our sense of boundary
These aspects hugely influence our health and remain healthy as therapists / practitioners. So we will look into what those might be.

Introduction to Authentic Movement
This wonderful practice really teaches us to witness ourselves and another in such a way that it enables us to communicate that is helpful for both parties.
Essential skill which I find often under-developed in practitioners and teachers.
Also It is a great tool for a profound processing of on-going emotions and other psychological and physical matters.  This class will be facilitated by Jane Okondo.

About Somatic Approach:
Somatic approach is based on discoveries through our own experiences.
One could say it combines the approaches of the East and the West:
The Eastern approach of investigating through ‘being with’ and ‘embodying’ to come to knowing our knowing, instead of figuring it out or looking at our body from the outside, which creates further separation from our body -  while being informed by the richness of the Western science of biology, anatomy and physiology.
We then are able to develop a field of practice where we work with what is actually present in front of us, instead of being limited by an already previously existing set of knowledge which may cause us to miss  what is there.

The aim of this training is to provide practitioners/teachers with tools and understanding which will allow them to develop their own unique and powerful body of work by integrating it into their own existing modality.
It can support those professionals to cultivate the practice that is sustainable and rewarding.
The knowledge and experiences you will get on this training will inform you in a very wide context, as it supports the whole person.  It will influence your perception and understanding of yourself, others and environment - whether you are teaching a class, facilitating a group, with a client in your therapy room or people in your life.
As a result, the way you interact with them will change - because you are informed from a much deeper place of understanding and experiences of your own (empathy, compassion and boundaries naturally arise from that).
It opens a door for your own continuous further enquiry that will support you to have  more courageous, authentic and creative ways to approach your work and life.

Some comments from the past participants of the training:

“I truly enjoyed Aki’s training.  Getting to know the layers of our body from a developmental and embodied perspective… Wealth of information I can use both in my hands on and therapeutic practices.  Aki’s spontaneous way of teaching brings the information to live.  I can highly recommend it.”
Annetta - trauma therapist / family constellation facilitator / yoga teacher / acupuncturist

Aki’s training at Kilnhanger was a wild ride into the inner landscape of the mind-body, exploring new and familiar practices from completely original perspectives. At once deeply intellectual and anatomical/physiological, but also wholly experiential.  It is some of the most profound and exquisitely beautiful work I've ever done, and seems to me, to be the intersection of wisdom from across disciplines, methodologies and philosophies. This body of work (like the somatic practices themselves) appear to be beneath the surfaces of all movement explorations and intellectual philosophies. It’s the closest to ’truth’ I think we can get. And Aki’s ability to so lightly and joyfully traverse this world is both spellbinding and inspirational.
James - yoga teacher

“I spent a nurturing, nourishing week with Aki at Kilnhanger last June.  Aki’s passion for somatic enquiry both in movement and stillness was delivered beautifully.  There is a depth, truth and richness to her teaching that emanates from her own embodiment of these practices.  Aki brought together a talented and compassionate group of women and we were supported by beautiful surroundings and an amazing chef.  I continue to employ much of what I learnt in my own yoga practice and with my students.”
Dora - yoga teacher

“Aki’s passion for this subject is infectious and I found it a deeply affecting experience.  I am still integrating it.  The training revealed what parts of me are not yet embodied and where my work is - not always a comfortable process but profoundly necessary - particularly as a teacher and a facilitator.   Beautiful place and people, delicious food and fun added much nourishment.  I am truly grateful.”
Tamsin - a psychotherapist / therapy group facilitator / trainer of psychotherapists

This is a groundbreaking training for those wishing for a deeper exploration of the body-mind connection within the overall theme of nourishment. I highly recommend this training course - I found it to be fascinating and greatly beneficial to own practice, my teaching and life more broadly.
Susan - yoga Teacher

….I feel as if I have had another door opened on my life's path.
Bridget - a yogi and a writer

Aki’s in-depth knowledge and generous spirit make her teaching a unique experience. Little gems of insight and understanding continuously arise during her sessions, which profoundly shifts awareness and perception so there comes about a real felt knowing in the body and new confidence in moving. Big thank you Aki.
Jean  - senior yoga teacher and trainer

I went there to grow as a yoga teacher. But I advanced as a human being - which means my yoga has changed. I changed as a practitioner and as a teacher as well.   Whatever happened, thank you Aki and thank you girls! I felt at home, safe and supported in this group from the first moment. And felt at home in this house, in the area.  For me personally it was a truly transformational week.
Zsuzsa - yoga teacher

It was really so special and I just wanted to say I feel very fortunate. Whatever you do, Aki, please PLEASE do more of these deep trainings and share. I feel it is such a subtle teaching to offer and really deserves the space and time... You are wonderful:).
Emily - nutritionist, yoga teacher, Ayurveda teacher

Thank you so much for such an incredible teacher training.  I have learnt so many skills that can deepen and support my yoga practice and help my friends, clients, family and myself with on a day to day basis.  I really feel I have a deeper understanding of myself and others because of your training. I am more grounded, more present, more available to others, more at ease in my everyday movements and feel completely inspired to continue learning…  I can't put into words how much it means to me to have done this training.
Maddy - yoga and pilates teacher

Dear Aki,   I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for an incredibly genuine, educational, experiential training full of so much love, support and friendship. I feel you have opened a door for me on a missing link. I feel this is such an important piece of the jigsaw to continue to work with the remnants of my ME…..  Aki, you are such a special teacher. You teach from where you are, and through your body, and communicate with every sense and tool you posses for our bodies and minds to absorb. I look forward to so many more internal adventures with you.
Alice - yoga teacher

I can definitely say that taking the decision to go out on a limb and head over to England and spend the week with you gorgeous souls was probably the best thing I’ve done this year.  Grateful to Aki for being so beautiful and open and for holding us all together with such love.
Hazel - yoga teacher

Thank you Aki for your incredible teaching, I always feel so lucky that I learn so much, consciously and unconsciously from you. I feel like you always bring me back onto the right track….
Maddy - Yoga teacher

Dearest Aki, I have deep gratitude for the experience and wisdom gained at the Kilnhanger retreat. I am still and processing and integrating the information as I refamiliarize myself with my body.  I do consider myself very fortunate to have had the indescribable but infinitely beneficial experience at Kilnhanger. I trust that over time, I will be able to condense into words the experience so that I can write a proper testimonial!
